IBM Notes/Domino 9.0.1 Feature Pack 10 Release Notice February 1, 2018

History: Beginning with 9.0.1 FP8, fix packs have been renamed to feature packs. To ensure quality, these feature packs still have a high focus on addressing high impacting defects. Where possible, these features are optionally enabled to minimize risk. The same packaging, architecture and install kits used in previous fix packs remain in use for feature packs.

IBM has identified important Notes®/Domino® SPR’s to be fixed in the latest Feature Pack release, 9.0.1 Feature Pack 10.

The Notes®/Domino® Fix List website on developerWorks will show you the status of this Feature Pack on the Upcoming Releases tab. This preliminary Release Notice will be updated to include a more descriptive explanation of the problem and fix, where applicable. Also, a link to the technote and regression information will be provided.

Notes®/Domino® 9.0.1 Feature Pack 10 addresses defects in the Client, Server, and the Domino OpenSocial component. All Feature Packs are language independent and may be applied on any language version of Notes®/Domino® 9.0.1.

Notes®/Domino® 9.0.1 Feature Pack 10 includes new features that benefit our customers. Some of these features have been in development for years and we are excited to make them available. Please refer to the “New Features” section below for more details.

Supersedes

9.0.1 Feature Pack 10 includes all of the content and supersedes the following deliverables:

  • Notes: 9.0.1 FP9, 9.0.1 FP9IF1
  • Domino: 9.0.1 FP9, 9.0.1 FP9IF1, 9.0.1 FP9IF2
  • iNotes: 9.0.1 FP9, 9.0.1 FP9IF1

Decision to upgrade

Customers are urged to upgrade to the latest Release and Feature Packs (in this case, 901FP10) to benefit from later features and fixes made to the product. By providing a number of features and fixes, customers are able to accept fewer code changes with lower risk, allowing them to “patch” an older Maintenance Release.

Feature Packs provide important fixes and IBM strongly recommends applying the latest Feature Pack available for a Maintenance Release to receive the broadest set of fixes available.

Things to Note:

  • The JVM was upgraded to Java 1.8 SR5 FP6 (with tzdata17c) (SPR #HYUEASEPJ4)
  • For information on NBP (Notes Browser Plugin), Notes® Client on Linux, or Domino® Server on Linux32 and AIX32, please refer to the 9.0.1 FP8 release notice.
  • Templates – There are no template updates for FP10; use templates from FP9
  • Pre-Req for Traveler Server: If are upgrading the version of Domino to 9.0.1 FP10 on your Traveler server, for server compatibility use Traveler 9.0.1.20 or higher.

Known Issues

  • Important Co-Req for embedded Sametime – If you had previously upgraded embedded sametime in Notes prior to 9.0.1 FP10, you must install a new Sametime Add-on after upgrading to FP10.  This is described in SPR CHZOAT55HZ. Please follow instruction in Technote #2012939 to download and address..
    – SPR #CHZOAT55HZ – Sametime is broken after install FP10 on top of Notes901 FP9 + ST9.0.1 FP1
  • SPR # SNIRATAD83 – Accessing Notes Client window’s Restore menu with keyboard shortcut ALT+SPACE shows distorted menu – Technote #2012673
  • SPR # ARNAATYNLA – Sametime embedded Features details still shows 8.5.2.20130926-0645. The issue is not a bug and expected behavior – Technote #2012675
  • SPR #SUNAAUQ8YY – All open tab are closed on upgrading to FP10. This is a limitation of the platform upgrade in FP10 – Technote #2012914

New Features in IBM Notes/Domino® 9.0.1 Social Edition Feature Pack 10
1) The JVM in Designer is Upgraded to use 1.8 at compile time
With this new upgrade, you can launch Designer client and leverage Java 1.8 compile time features in building applications. For full compatibility, apps compiled in FP10 should be deployed on Notes or Domino FP10 and higher. Java apps may run on Notes/Domino 9.0.1 FP8 and higher as that release upgrade to Java 1.8 runtime. However, Application best practice is to compile with the lowest common denominator to the client/server version deployed.

2) Eclipse Platform Upgraded to 4.6.2 – The 9.0.1 FP10 platform is upgraded from Eclipse 3.4.2 to Eclipse 4.6.2. This includes SWT, OSGi, Jface and other re-lated Eclipse plugins. Notes, Designer, Embedded Sametime, and Connections Plugins now leverage Eclipse 4.6.2. The Domino server uses the OSGi bundles from Eclipse 4.6.2 for servlet and XPages access.

3) Embedded Sametime Upgraded To 9.0.1 By Default
The default version of the Embedded Sametime in the Notes Client has been upgraded to the 9.0.1 (previously 8.5.2), See important Co-Req in Known Issues above described in  Technote #2012939.

4) The GSKit libraries for are upgraded on all client/server platforms except IBM i to Version 8.0.50.84 (which contains FIPS Certified ICC Version: 8.4.1.0) for both client & server. GSKit is used for FIPs support, AES , 1024+ RSA, and Diffie-Hellman. IBM i will be evaluated for a future release.

5) Japanese User Interface Update Technote #2013102
An optional Japanese User Interface update includes fixes for high-impact localization defects. The ‘IBM Notes Client 9.0.1 FP10 Japanese User Interface Update’ requires 9.0.1 Japanese Client/Japanese MUI + FP10.

6) Add-on Installer for Notes CCM (Connections Content Manager)
An add-on installer for Notes CCM eliminates the need for special hotfixes but does require 9.0.1 FP10. This optional add-on allows a Notes client to show Libraries from CCM for use with email and calendar.
Note: The Notes CCM now supports the Dutch language in addition to previously supported languages.

7) Docker support for IBM Domino Technote #2013200

Fixes contained in this Feature Pack

What follows is a subset of high impacting bug fixes addressed in this feature pack.  For the full list of fixes, visit  the fixes by release view  for the description of each fix in this Fix Pack, including platform specific information.
A plus symbol (+) before the SPR number indicates a fix for a regression bug. A regression bug is an issue that was introduced in a Maintenance Release but did not exist in previous releases of that code stream. For example, a bug that appears in 9.0.1 but did not exist in 9.0.0 is a regression.
If an APAR exists for the corresponding SPR, the APAR number will appear in parentheses next to the SPR number. For example, SPR #nnnnnnnnnn (LO12345).

The Fix List database on developerWorks contains the description of each fix in this Feature Pack, and indicates which platform(s) have been fixed.

  • back-up en restore gaat sneller

  1. Installeer minimaal Feature Pack 8 (FP8) of nieuwer

05-01-2018 10:36:02 The database E:\Domino\data\mail\xxxx.nsf attempted to access a missing file: F:\DAOS\0148\71B8CB2B87D602E3F83AA3897F5D8A23E3979A020001E900.nlo: File does not exist

tell daosmgr listnlo -o mymailobjects.txt MISSING mymail.nsf.

New Features in IBM Domino® 9.0.1 Social Edition Feature Pack 9
The documentation in Knowledgebase will be updated with these new features to coincide with the ship date of 9.0.1 FP9

1) Enhancement Request To Be Able To Increase The Amgr Queue Beyond 100 (SPR #RSTNA4SL7C APARID: LO87242)
The Agent Manager’s Eligible queue is now able to change from the lowest value possible at 100, to 255 which is the highest value possible via an INI AMGRMaxQueue.

2) Databases and views can be opened more quickly in databases that are enabled for transaction logging
It takes less time to open databases and views that are at ODS 52 or higher and enabled for transaction logging. Previously, performance for opening databases or views could be slow in frequently updated databases. This improvement is due to the implementation of less contention with update operations.

3) Restricting the use of mail rules to forward messages to external domains (SPR #JPAR9NEACX APARID: LO81771
You can control the extent to which users can use the Send copy to mail rule to automatically forward received messages to external domains that are not recognized by the mail server. This feature does not affect any forwarding rules that are specified in a user’s Person document or any other type of mail server
forwarding or re-direction.

4) Enabling and managing inline view indexing
A view index is an internal filing system that Notes® uses to build the list of documents to display in a database view or folder. By default, view indexes are updated on a server at scheduled intervals. To update a view index immediately after documents change instead, administrators can enable inline view indexing. When you enable inline view indexing, a critical view is always kept up-to-date for your users.

5) Updating the default Java from 1.6 to 1.8 on IBM i (SPR #BYAGALM8J8)

New Features in IBM® Notes® 9.0.1 Social Edition Feature Pack 9
1) Delegated mail files are refreshed automatically (SPR #RGAU829D4G APARID: LO48407)
If you have delegate access to another user’s mail file, that mail file is refreshed automatically in your Notes® client. To enable this feature, upgrade to the Mail9.ntf template provided with the FP9 Client. No notes.ini setting is required for this feature.

2) Support for recall of messages created with Memo stationary (SPR #JLEN9C9E3G APARID: LO77349)
When message recall is configured on the server, messages created using Memo stationery can now be recalled. To enable this feature, upgrade to the Mail9.ntf template provided with FP9.

3) High resolution support for the Notes® Client
The Notes® client on Windows correctly scales text and icons when high resolution monitors or custom DPI settings are used.

4) Improved name lookup in Notes®
Searching by through typeahead or in the ambiguous name dialog, returns the same results as searching by . For example, searching for don smith or smith don returns the same results, including variants such as Donald, Donovan, Smithfield. To enable this feature, upgrade to the pernames.ntf template provided with 9.0.1 FP9 and add the notes.ini setting AllowWildcardLookup=1 to the Notes® 9.0.1 FP9 client.

5) Improved support for Notes® addressing with mobile directory catalogs (SPR #SAPLAK8ANL)
The list of names that is shown when using typeahead to search a mobile directory catalog is now sorted according to the directory catalog configuration. Names in local contacts follow this list. In addition, the Search Directory for option is available at the end of the list to facilitate server lookup. To enable this feature, add the notes.ini setting $TypeAheadShowDircatFirst = 1 to the Notes® 9.0.1 FP9 client.

Fixes contained in this Feature Pack

Vooraankondiging IBM Notes/Domino 9.0.1 Feature Pack 9

IBM Notes/Domino 9.0.1 Feature Pack 9 Preliminary Release Notice

July 20, 2017

Beginning with 9.0.1 FP8, fix packs have been renamed to feature packs. To ensure quality, these feature packs still have a high focus on addressing high impacting defects. Where possible, these features are optionally enabled to minimize risk. The same packaging, architecture and install kits used in previous fix packs remain in use for feature packs.

IBM has identified important Notes®/Domino® SPRs to be fixed in the latest Feature Pack release, 9.0.1 Feature Pack 9. This notice serves as the Preliminary Fix List. All fixes in this Feature Pack have been selected through our Triage process of high impacting customer requested bug fixes and are currently undergoing testing. IBM reserves the right to remove any fix from this targeted release if it does not pass quality engineering tests. Please consider this information to be provisional. Do not base irreversible business decisions on this information until the Feature Pack has been officially released.

Notes®/Domino® 9.0.1 Feature Pack 9 addresses defects in the Client, Server, and the Domino OpenSocial component. All Feature Packs are language independent and may be applied on any language version of Notes®/Domino® 9.0.1.

Notes®/Domino® 9.0.1 Feature Pack 9 includes new features that benefit our customers. Some of these features have been in development for years and we are excited to make them available. Please refer to the “New Features” section below for more details.

Supersedes
9.0.1 Feature Pack 9 includes all of the content and supersedes the following deliverables:

Notes: 9.0.1 FP8, 9.0.1 FP8IF1
Domino: 9.0.1 FP8, 9.0.1 FP8IF1, 9.0.1 FP8IF2, 9.0.1 FP8IF3
iNotes: 9.0.1 FP8, 9.0.1 FP8IF1, 9.0.1 FP8IF2

Decision to upgrade
Customers are urged to upgrade to the latest Release and Feature Packs (in this case, 901FP9) to benefit from later features and fixes made to the product.

For information on NBP (Notes Browser Plugin), Notes® Client on Linux, or Domino® Server on Linux32 and AIX32, please refer to the 9.0.1 FP8 release notice.

JVM
Notes/Domino – Java 1.8 SR4 FP5 (with tzdata2017b)
Designer compile – Java 1.6 SR16 FP45

Fixes contained in this Feature Pack

INECO-IBM-Domino-failover-SMTP-relay-host

Failover in Foreign SMTP Connection Document of Relay Host

For the field Relay host for messages leaving the local Internet domain enter the host name, domain name, or IP address of the server being used as a relay host keeping the following guidelines in mind:
A domain name is a valid entry only if the internal DNS contains an MX record for that domain and can resolve it to a host name.
When entering an IP address, enclose it within brackets; for example, [127.0.0.1].

http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21217089

Using the Configuration Document to implement outbound SMTP failover

Question:
You must configure the Lotus Domino® server for outbound SMTP failover. In the Configuration Document –> Router/SMTP panel –> Basics panel, can the field, “Relay host for messages leaving the local internet domain,” contain multiple hostnames/IP addresses?

Answer:
This feature is available beginning with Domino 6 releases. Use a semi-colon to separate hostname entries or IP addresses to achieve failover.

Example: host1.acme.com;host2.acme.com

Result:
The router will attempt an SMTP transfer to host1.acme.com. If host1.acme.com is down or not responding, the router will failover to host2.acme.com as observed below:

09/13/2006 11:01:46 AM Router: No messages transferred to host1.acme.com;host2.acme.com (host host1.acme.com) via SMTP: The server is not responding. The server may be down or you may be experiencing network problems. Contact your system administrator if this problem persists.
09/13/2006 11:01:46 AM SMTPClient: Attempting to Connect: Host host2.acme.com, Port 25, SSL Port 0, Connecting Domain vec.lotus.com

https://www.slideshare.net/jayeshpar2006/important-tips-on-router-and-smtp-mail-routing

How to make Domino relay server to route mail to mutiple SMTP hosts
Within the Domino “Relay host” field, two list delimiters are allowed – comma( , ) and semicolon( 😉
● Method 1: Load balancing mode : host1, host2
In this example, the router will take the group of hosts at the
same preference level (host1 and host2) and try to connect to
these hosts in a random order.
● Method 2: Fail over mode : host1; host2
In this example, the router will take preference of first host
(host1) to route emails. If host1 stops responding, then the
Domino router will move on to the next host (host2) i.e the next
preference level.

Configuring Domino to send mail to a relay host or firewall

The internal mail servers can route Internet mail to the server with SMTP enabled for external mail either via IBM® Lotus® Notes® routing, with a Foreign SMTP Domain document and SMTP Connection document linking to the SMTP server, or via SMTP routing, with the SMTP server configured as the relay host.

Configuring these servers requires:

  • Enabling “SMTP used when sending messages outside of the local Internet domain” for Mail1 and Mail3.
  • Enabling the SMTP listener task for Mail1 and Mail3.
  • Setting up DNS correctly to include MX records for Mail1 and Mail3, indicating to external SMTP systems that these are the hosts that receive inbound mail for the acme.com domain.
  • Either enabling “SMTP allowed outside of the local Internet domain” for the internal mail servers, Mail2 and Mail4, and listing Mail1 or Mail3 as the relay host, or creating a Foreign SMTP Domain document and SMTP Connection document that define the route to Mail1 or Mail3.

Open Mic Session “Best Practices, Configuring and Troubleshooting SMTP mail routing” – 9 June 2011

Question:
Can we configure multiple IP to Domino outbound SMTP server ?

e.g.- 10 IP to send out the mails so that mail transfer will be faster by 10 times.

Answer:
You can configure multiple IP addresses in the relay host field in the Configuration Document for the Lotus Domino® server. (Configuration Document –> Router/SMTP panel –> Basics –> Relay host for messages leaving the local internet domain ).

You can use multiple IPs by separating with a comma or a semi-colon as the separator between IP addresses in the relay host field in the Configuration Document, or if using brackets then add a second bracket to the first IP address as given example below.

Note:
Don’t use brackets around or spaces within the IP address configuration.

Use:
10.10.1.4,10.10.1.6
or
10.10.1.4;10.10.1.6
or
[[10.10.1.4],[10.10.1.6]

Question:
I am using 3 gateways for out going mails is it possible that i can configure load balancing?

Answer:
You can use a comma to separate the IP addresses of your gateways. Comma will give you load balancing while semicolon will give you failover. Specify the IP addresses like this x.x.x.x, y.y.y.y, z.z.z.z .

Bijlage zoeken in DAOS

tell daosmgr LISTNLO MAP -V mail/Cursus.nsf

Syntax:
DAOSMGR NLOENCRYPTION [ENCRYPT | DECRYPT | VALIDATE] <path to single NLO file>|

DAOS_RESYNC_VALIDATE_NLO_FILES=1 worden toegepast.
